Mabel Williams has been a resident of Mt. Airy for over 44 years.  She is a former Vice-Chairman of the West Mt. Airy Neighbors.  During Ms. Williams’ service to WMAN, she was instrumental in arranging for Mt. Airy residents to share their homes for with guests of the United Nations. She also planned foreign student weekends in Mt. Airy.

In the 60’s and 70’s Mabel was involved with the C. W. Henry School Home and School Association and served as its Secretary for a time.  During this time the association held many popular school events such as the Henry School Fair in the springtime and the Fall Harvest Fair.  These events were essential in raising money for science equipment, a Spanish teacher’s salary and furnishing the school nurse’s office.

While working with then Council President Joseph Coleman, Mabel. Williams was played an important part in solving a myriad of problems in the Mt. Airy community. Ms. Williams held meetings with various community groups to hear their complaints and help solve their problems.

Mabel was also a member of the Fairmount Park Advisory Committee, a member of West Mt. Airy ACT – Crime Prevention program and a volunteer at the 14th District Police Mini-Station.
